The Role:
Fusion Pharmaceuticals is opening the role of “Scientist” to support the design of manufacturing and analytical processes as well as the technology transfer, in-house and with CDMO partners. This role will report to the Associate Director of Process Development and Technology Transfer.
This position requires collaborative skills, multi-tasking ability, and the desire to strive in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will bring a strong background in radiolabelling, radiometal chemistry and analytical method development, and have knowledge of manufacturing within the biotech or pharmaceutical industry.
Responsibilities:
- Design and execute the laboratory work and tasks related to the development of manufacturing and analytical processes for targeted alpha therapies and related compounds.
- Analyze generated data and report outcomes to the project’s teams.
- Lead or support the technology transfer of newly designed manufacturing and analytical processes.
- Generate supporting documentation for newly designed processes such as development reports, standard operating procedures (SOP), work instructions, validation documentation (e.g.: process and equipment validation, validation report).
- Participate in validation and qualification activities for new clinical manufacturing processes and analytical methods, as necessary.
- Support the CMC group during investigations (non-conformance, deviation, out-of-specification).
Qualifications:
- MS with experience in product development and manufacturing; Advanced degree in organic or analytical chemistry, radiochemistry, radiopharmaceutical sciences, Pharmaceutical Science, Chemical Engineering, or related scientific discipline.
- Experience in radiopharmaceuticals manufacturing and analytical method development and validation.
- Experience with manufacturing process design using an automated synthesis unit is an asset.
- Knowledge of radiation safety principles/dangerous goods and regulations (e.g. CNSC, NRC).
- Strong interpersonal skills are required, and the successful candidate will work in a cross-functional team and will be expected to take a leadership position in key manufacturing projects.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with an ability to adapt to various partners and geography.
- Meticulous, self-motivated, decisive, and independent with a willingness to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Available to travel to various locations (primarily in North America).

Annual base salary for this position ranges from 82,377.60 to 108,120.60.AstraZeneca is committed to providing fair and equitable compensation opportunities to all colleagues. Our compensation policies and practices have been designed to allow colleagues to progress through the salary range over time as they progress in their role. The range provided in this posting represents an offer pay range used in a majority of situations. The base pay offered will vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including the candidate's skills and experience, job-related knowledge, and other specific business and organizational needs. In some cases, offers outside the range may also be considered to address unique circumstances.
In addition, our permanent positions offer an annual Variable Pay Bonus/Short Term Incentive opportunity as well as eligibility to participate in our equity-based long-term incentive program (if applicable to role).
